The PVAMU community is mourning the loss of freshman Eboni Douglas, who passed away on Saturday, September 2 following a car accident in Bastrop.
The 17 year-old was a recent graduate of Mansfield High School and had previously participated in a summer program on PVAMU’s campus. PVAMU was her first choice for college and she loved the University. Douglas, a former gymnast, was majoring in Nursing and sought to follow in the footsteps of her mother, who is a nurse.
“Even though Eboni was with PVAMU briefly, she will always be remembered as a Panther. Indeed, the entire University community is saddened by her untimely death,” said PVAMU President George C. Wright. “The University extends our condolences to her family and friends during this difficult time.”
Visitation will be held Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Golden Gate Funeral Room, 4155 S. R. L. Thornton Freeway in Dallas. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday.
The Student Counseling Center is prepared to offer grievance counseling and assistance to the University students, faculty and staff. Those interested should call (936) 261-3564. Students can also contact The Johnson-Phillip All Faiths Chapel at (936) 261-3590 to seek counseling and support.
