DI Goals

The program has established the following goals in the fulfillment of its mission.
Outcome measures established to determine the accomplishment of each goal are identified.

Goal 1. Prepare student interns with the experience necessary for effective communication with peers and clients.

Outcome Measure:

  1. When surveyed, 80% or more of employees will indicate a rating of satisfactory or better on graduates’ communication skills
  2. 90% or more of Preceptors will rate interns’ communication skills as satisfactory or better by the end of the internship program.

Goal 2.  Prepare competent ethnically diverse entry level dietetic practitioners, who are committed to the profession as educators of appropriate dietary practices, professional growth and enhancement.

Outcome Measures:

  1. When surveyed 80% or more of employees will indicate a rating of satisfactory or better on graduates’ performance.
  2. At lease 50% of graduates will indicate continued education and training related to their field of study.
  3. At least 20% of each internship class will be composed of individuals’ from  under-represented ethnic groups.

Goal 3. Prepare graduates to successfully pass the registration examination for dietitians.

Outcome Measure

  1. At least 80% of graduates will have passed the registration examination within 12 months of program completion.
  2. Maintain 80% pass rate on the RD examination for first time test takers.

Dietetic Internship Learning Outcome

Upon completion of the DI program graduates will:

  • Demonstrate effective communication skills and the ability to use various communication tools in disseminating nutrition information.
  • Exhibit professional skills and behavior including ethical practice in collaborating with other professionals.
  • Demonstrate professional competencies as outlined by the American Dietetic Association.
  • Effectively and efficiently perform as entry level dietitians in variety of settings.
  • Demonstrate problem solving and critical thinking skills in making informed decisions.
  • Be committed to professional growth and enhancement.
