The program has established the following goals in the fulfillment of its mission:
Goals 1. The program will prepare graduates for entry into dietetic internship programs or graduate degree programs.
Outcome Measures:
1. Graduates of the program will reflect a pass rate of at least 80% on the Registration Examination for dietitians over a 5 year period.
2. 80% of Graduates entering advanced degree programs will be successful in obtaining the degree.
3. At least 50% of graduates not employed will apply and be accepted in DI or graduate programs within 12 months of obtaining their degree.
Goal 2. The program will add to the cadre of minority professionals successful in their field of study.
Outcome Measure:
1. At least 80% of graduates from underrepresented ethics groups will be employed in their area of study within 12 months of completing the degree of DI.
2. 90% of graduates will receive employee ratings of satisfactory or above on their performance in the work place.
Goal 3. Faculty and staff will make every effort to retain, motivate and graduate students.
Outcome Measures:
1. Dietetic education faculty will meet with all students at least once each semester.
2. At least 80% of students will indicate as satisfactory, the support and encouragement provided by faculty and staff.
3. Seventy percent (70%) of students who enter the program will complete the degree.
Goal 4. Program will foster student’s professional and social development and their awareness of being involved in community and volunteer activities.
Outcome Measures:
1. When surveyed at least 80% of students will indicate participation in professional organization and community activities.
2. When surveyed at least 80% of graduates will show continued involvement in professional activities.
3. At least 80% of current students will indicate active involvement in campus clubs and activities.
Goal 5. Provide general nutrition education support to non nutrition majors within the university.
Outcome Measures:
1. 50% or more of students taking the general nutrition course will be non nutrition majors.
