Research|Current Research Projects || Funding Opportunities in Physics || Funding Opportunities in General | Potential Funding Opportunities:National Science Foundation issued a solicitation – Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Sites and Supplements program. REUs are an excellent way to increase the national visibility of your program, recruit highly qualified and diverse graduate students, enhance connections with sister departments at other universities and develop components that will be useful in competing for future NSF programs. The U.S. Army, Research, Development and Engineering Center (RDEC) Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000 is contemplating issuance of a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) for Historically Black Colleges Universities (HBCU), Minority Institutions (MI), and Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI) who can execute basic research concepts. This proposed BAA is a challenge to Academia to explore applications of technology and to foster development in areas of interest to the Army. The Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI) program supports basic science and/or engineering research at institutions of higher education (hereafter referred to as “universities”) that is of critical importance to national defense. The program is focused on multidisciplinary research efforts that intersect more than one traditional science and engineering discipline. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is announcing opportunities to participate in Earth Science Enterprise research and development activities focused on Earth Science Education. NASA âs Earth Science and Education Enterprises are jointly supporting this opportunity. Innovative solutions for systematically increasing the usability of NASA Earth Science knowledge and data resources in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education are requested. NASA solicits basic research and research that enables technology development in support of the science missions of the Office of Biological and Physical Research (OBPR)...plant biology, microbial ecology, multiphase flow, and interfacial phenomena. This NRA is limited to specific aspects of biological research and fluid physics as they pertain to life support systems for future space exploration. These areas include plant biology, microbial ecology, multiphase flow, and interfacial phenomena. Solicited proposal types include ground-based research and ground-based Pilot Studies, depending on research area. Investigators may submit more than one proposal in response to this NRA; however, identical proposals may NOT be submitted to multiple programs. All participants in this solicitation are strongly encouraged to promote general scientific literacy and public understanding of life sciences, the space environment, and the OBPR programs through formal and informal education opportunities. Where appropriate, supported investigators will collaborate with NASA to develop a plan for communicating their work to the public.
