Lindsay, Reid Pace Volleyball Team In Final Two Games

Freshman Sapphire Reid and Cheri Lindsay led the Lady Panthers in kills on Saturday, but the Prairie View A&M volleyball team (0-3) dropped two matches at the Hurricane Invitational at Coral Gables, Fla. The Lady Panthers lost to Florida Gulf Coast University on Saturday evening, 19-25, 17-25, 27-25, 12-25, and to University of Miami by a margin of 8-25, 17-25, 16-25.
Lindsay recorded a season-best 15 kills against Florida Gulf Coast University. She recorded a .119 hitting percentage in the match with 42 attempts and only 10 hitting errors. Sapphire Reid also contributed with a season-best performance of 10 kills and contributed on the defensive side with six digs.
After falling short in the first two games against Florida Gulf Coast University, the Lady Panthers were able to pull away with game three. Jasmine Hale and Stephanie Iwuala provided assistance defensively as Hale racked up a season-high 13 digs while Iwauala led the team with 19 digs.
Earlier Saturday, the Lady Panthers lost to University of Miami, 3-0. Sapphire Reid led the Lady Panthers with 7 kills and a team-high 7 digs. She hit .267 for the match and added a service ace. Erin Fondel recorded 14 assists and a service ace before leaving the match with a knee injury.
The Lady Panthers continue play Tuesday, Sept. 1 against the University of Texas San Antonio.
