 Dr. Margaret Sherrod
Black Foxes
margaretcarol2002@yahoo.com

Dr. Margaret Penn Sherrod is a graduate of Prairie View A&M University, where she received her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Sociology, and received the Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Southern
University's Thurgood Marshall School of Law.  During her matriculation at Prairie View, she held the title of Miss Prairie View A&M University and represented the University as the first African American contestant
in the Miss Texas/Miss America Pageant in Fort Worth, Texas.  She is also a former Miss Black Texas, and a contestant in the Miss Black America Pageant in New York City.

As a student at Prairie View A&M, Dr. Sherrod, at the encouragement of then Marching Band Director, Mr. James P. Mosley, created a new image for the marching band majorettes line that was given
the name, The Black Foxes.  Her unrelenting dedication and creativity to this performing group has rendered a steady course of success through unique choreography, ornate costuming and character building.
Her vision for a "class act" has come to be recognized and applauded by many, from across the country.

Dr. Sherrod received private training at the Patsy Swazey School of Dance and has studied with Houston Metropolitan Dance.  A veteran pageant coach, manager, producer, choreographer and judge, Dr. Sherrod incorporates the poise associated with pageantry into the rigors of the performance program for The Black Foxes that help create the image that is uniquely theirs.  Dr. Sherrod's former Foxes have made their way in to the ranks of professional cheerleading organizations that include The Dallas Cowboys, The Houston Rockets, The Houston Comets and The Houston Texans.  She conducts workshops during the summer for high school groups and feels that The Black Foxes have a special opportunity to positively impact the
ambitions of young admiring fans.  She has received numerous commendations for her work, including a Senate Resolution from the Senate and House of Representatives for the State of Texas.

In addition to her work with The Black Foxes, Dr. Sherrod is a former partner in the law firm of Willie, Willie & Associates, and currently is an instructor of sociology.
