Cheri Lindsay Honored as SWAC Offensive Player of the Week
Prairie View’s outside hitter Cheri Lindsay was honored this week by becoming SWAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week.
Denver, Colorado native tallied 32 kills in two wins for the Prairie View Lady Panthers last week including a 3-1divisional win over Southern University. Lindsay also recorded four blocks and three service aces for the week.
For the season Lindsay has racked up the box sheet leading her team and also the SWAC in kills totaling 329 and averaging 3.25 per game. She also leads the team in service aces with 29. Lindsay is second on the team in digs racking up 234 and averaging 2.23 per game.
“I am really impressed with the improvement of Cheri on the offensive and defensive end," said head coach Alicia Pete. "She has become one of our greatest assets!”
Lindsay was also recognize by COBRA Magazine, a volleyball publication that showcases African American players around the nation and tells their stories in hopes of inspiring younger black volleyball players who may not have immediate examples of success to reference in their communities.
Lindsay exemplifies a Panther athlete being a leader in the game and in the community.The Lady Panthers have four games left. They are currently second in the conference behind Grambling State as the SWAC tournament approaches, the Lady Panthers are playing well and are looking to bring their third SWAC championship home this year.
