English MA Degree Requirements

As an M.A. student in English, you can choose between two degree plans. Plan 1 prepares candidates for teaching lower-level college English courses and entering Ph.D. programs, simultaneously allowing students to tailor courses to their needs and interests; it includes both a thesis and non-thesis option. Plan 2 is designed for candidates pursuing an M.A. for personal enrichment, although core requirements enable candidate to meet the minimum preparatory standards for Ph.D.

In consultation with your academic advisor, you can determine which plan is the best fit for your personal and career goals.
