It is with deep sorrow that I inform you of the loss of Simon R. Wiltz, RA, NOMA, Founder of Archi-Technics III, Architectural Firm in Houston and a former faculty member at the School of Architecture.
Mr. Wiltz was a friend, colleague, and a great role model to our past and future graduates. Those who have known him, studied under him or worked with him, are lucky to have been able to call him a friend and teacher. Simon R. Wiltz was an Architect, an Educator, and a Pioneer in bringing the PVAMU School of Architecture to the forefront of learning realms.
Simon R. Wiltz's warm and calming delivery in the classroom made learning easy for his students. And this character trait was noticed by community leaders as Simon worked tirelessly for neighborhood improvement. As a practitioner, his focus was on community projects created for the enhancement of life. As a mentor of future Architects, he helped students focus on their education which would bring about positive changes in their lives, preparing them for a future as leaders and designers of their new society. As a role model for his architecture students, his life at the University and his body of work as a designer proved to be a benchmark for future generations.
An Architect's life is often measured by his or her buildings. Simon R. Wiltz's life can be measured by his creative projects and, even more importantly, by the success of his students.
Please join me at this time in celebrating the life of this man, remembering his work and those student successes.
