March 1, 2012 REU Programs in Computational Sciences and Materials Sciences, CCT REU: Interdisciplinary Research Experience in Computational Sciences http://reu.cct.lsu.edu/. The Center for Computation & Technology (CCT) hosts a nine week Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program where students work collaboratively on a wide variety of computational science projects. Each student receives a stipend of $4,500, free housing in university dormitories, and up to $500 in travel expenses to and from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Nine students will be selected.

The Penn State College of Medicine Summer Undergraduate Research Internship Program for 2012 FEBRUARY 6, 2012 SURIP 2012 would be most appropriate for students considering applying to PhD programs in the Biological/Biomedical Sciences and is not intended for students who will apply to Medical School. There is no clinical shadowing component to the internship. Research interns will have the opportunity to live on our campus, and will receive a stipend of $3,000 each to cover their living expenses during the summer.  University of Texas at Austin  Thursday, February 1, 2012  NSF-sponsored summer undergraduate research program in chemistry at the University of Texas at Austin,  The ten week program runs from early June to mid-August, 2012. All students will be housed in a UT dormitory, and the cost of the dormitory and meal plan is included in the program. Each student will be awarded a salary of $4,000 for the summer, and some travel funds will be available to help defray the cost of traveling to Austin. Participants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. The electronic application is found at www.impactreu.com. The application for the summer program requires submission of an application form, an undergraduate transcript, two letters of recommendation from faculty at the undergraduate institution, and a one page (double-spaced) personal essay stating the applicant’s career goals and academic interests.
