Dr. Micheal Nojeim

Dr. Michael J. Nojeim is Program Coordinator and Associate Professor of Political Science at Prairie View A & M University. He received his Ph.D. in International Relations from American University in Washington, D.C. He teaches a wide range of Political Science courses including American Government. His areas of specialization include Peace Studies and Nonviolence, Middle East Politics, U.S. Foreign Policy, Comparative Politics, International Politics and Global Issues.  He has published articles on international relations and on nonviolence. His first book, Gandhi and King: The Power of Nonviolent Resistance, was published in 2004. His second book, co-authored with David P. Kilroy, is called Days of Decision: Turning Points in U.S. Foreign Policy and is due out in 2009.   

Dr. Nojeim also actively serves the academy, the university community and the Houston area as well. He is a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Gandhi StudiesHe has served as the Chair or member of many Division and University committees, such as the President’s Annual Symposium Committee, the Division Strategic Plan Committee, various academic search committees and many more. He also served as President of the Board of the Decade of Nonviolence—Houston from 2005 – 2009. He is also the Primary Advisor to several student clubs and organizations on campus, including the Xi Delta Chi sorority, the Model United Nations Club and the Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Science Honor Society.
