Commencement Speaker:
Nathelyne Archie Kennedy, Class of 1959, was the first female engineering graduate at Prairie View A & M University and the first African-American woman in Texas to become registered as a professional engineer (P.E.).
A dedicated and progressive professional, Kennedy and her company, Nathelyne A. Kennedy & Associates, have garnered awards, honors, and citations of achievement for both business excellence and community service. In October of 2006, Prairie View A&M University named the School of Architecture building in her honor. The award winning facility houses bachelor's and master's degree programs in architecture, art, community development and construction science, and some College of Business faculty and departments.
Kennedy currently serves as a the Vice Chairman/Vice President of the newly created PVAMU Foundation.
