Freshman Composition at PVAMU

The two-course composition curriculum at Prairie A&M University is designed to introduce students to the conventions and expectations for college writing.  As students progress through Composition I (ENGL 1123) and Composition II (ENGL 1133), they learn how write clear and well-structured arguments intended for an audience of sophisticated readers (including scholars within particular fields of study).  In the process, they learn how to conduct research and how to properly use and cite various types of source material.

The composition instructors are devoted to creating positive learning environments for our students by offering expert instruction within the classroom, one-on-one help for students outside the classroom, and rigorous but fair assessments of students’ performance and progress through the course of the semester.
