The Texas Juvenile Crime Prevention Center, located  in the College of Juvenile Justice and Psychology, is committed to excellence in education, training, prevention, research and service. The Center’s goals are to assist in understanding human behavior and to reduce the incidence of juvenile crime in the State of Texas. This conference is an effort to increase awareness and to enhance the skills of educators, practitioners and social service providers. This year's theme is: "Restoring Lives and Shattered Dreams: Addressing Youth Violence". 

This two (2) day conference will feature workshops, training and panel discussions on the subjects of Social Media & Media Violence, Predictors of Youth Violence, Mental Health Services for Youths and Federal Health Care Reform. Panel discussions will also address the "Question of Access: Mental Health and Gun Violence" and "Restoring the Health of the Community: Restorative Justice".  This event includes a TCLEOSE track for law enforcement professionals interested in Crisis Intervention Techniques for Mentally Challenged Juveniles; Identifying and Interviewing Juvenile Victims of Sexual Assault and Identifying and Documenting Street Gang Members.
