Student Government AssociationOn behalf of the-more than 8,000 students at Prairie View A&M University-I welcome you to the official homepage for the Student Government Association! It is my honor and pleasure to serve in the capacity of President of the highest ranking student organization. The Student Government Association is organized to be an advocate for the general student body, and possess the students’ confidence in believing that when change is needed it can be accomplished through SGA. I would like to welcome all returning and new faculty, staff, administrators, and students to these hallowed grounds we so humbly call “The Hill.” I am truly excited about this year and working with you all to achieve the many goals that will inevitably leave Prairie View a better place than when we found it. I am especially enthused by this year’s theme “Quality Without Compromise” which falls right in line with my platform “Enhancing the Quality of Services” not doing things on a grand scale but rather the small things that make a big difference. As students we must vow neither to settle nor compromise for anything less than the best faculty, staff, and administrators-who by choice are willing to reach out, inspire, educate, and empower us-their future leaders. With that in mind I would charge the faculty, staff, and administration not to compromise for anything less than the best from our students in the class room, in the quality of work, participation, and respect. The only way to achieve this goal is for us to work together. We understand that the challenges will be great, however, we all have a responsibility and obligation to engender and environment that will stimulate the personal and professional growth of each other; thereby, fulfilling the mission of this institution of higher learning. In addition, we have a responsibility to support the vision that our President Dr. Wright has-that will move this university to greater heights. Johnie L. Jones, III |
