The 2nd Annual Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign exceeded expectations with an integrated approach that involved several units of the University. Stephanie Buenaventura, (KPVU-FM) Sheleah Reed, (Executive Communications Director) Deans from each College and members of the Student Development Initiative, joined the bandwagon to make this effort more fruitful than its inaugural year.
The legacy PVAMU was founded on in 1876 continues to thrive today, with an all hands on deck approach to philanthropy.
This component of the Annual Fund allows every donor, no matter what position we hold, to give to the designation of choice with flexible payment options. In all of our roles, we each possess a capacity to give something back, no matter the amount, to support and educate our future leaders of a global world. The faculty and staff giving campaign grossed over $95,000, exceeded last year’s participation rate of 60%, and surpassed this year’s goal of 70%, attaining 75% participation.
With volunteers like Drs. Sherill Morris and Lisa Thompson, and departmental campaign coordinators, we created awareness about the benefits of support and piqued the interest of many.
Our efforts continue to be viewed closely by our students, corporations and foundations, as we choose to lead by example. We hope that our efforts continue to garner the support of ALL faculty and staff members next year, ensuring that we continue to extend the legacy and tradition of giving back. Besides, we make a living by what we make and we make a life by what we give.
