PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (Oct. 21, 2022) – “I’m just happy to see you and me back in stride again.” This song by Maze featuring Frankie Beverly sets the stage for Prairie View A&M University’s 2022 Homecoming, the University’s first fully in-person homecoming since 2019. One of Southeast Texas’ largest events, appropriately themed “Back in Stride Again,” takes place Oct. 23-29 on “The Hill.”
A common sentiment among alums – a PVAMU Homecoming is like coming home to family; simply put, it’s a family affair.
“Homecoming is a time for alums, students, employees and friends to come together to celebrate our customs and traditions,” said Beverly Copeland, vice president for Student Affairs. “We look forward to this time of year when everyone returns to ‘The Hill’ in full support of the Purple and Gold.”
This year’s series of events kicks off Sunday with a chapel service, gospel fest and a bicycle glow ride. PVAMU students, employees, alums and friends are invited to partake in the entire week’s experiences, including several networking events, Super Hump Day, the Royal Coronation, and a jazz concert featuring Khari Cabral & Jiva, to name a few. A student concert packs the Baby Dome on Friday night with rapper Young Nudy. The “Parade of Champions” returns Saturday morning, with the PVAMU Panthers taking on Bethune-Cookman in Panther Stadium early Saturday afternoon.
“Let us celebrate this joyous occasion, honoring the many who have fought tirelessly to make this University the success it is today. Go Panthers!” Copeland said.
