GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY KICKS OFF $60 MILLION STADIUM AND ATHLETIC COMPLEX PROJECT FOR PVAMU ATHLETICS.
Prairie View, Texas Prairie View A&M University Department of Athletics will break ground on its 15,000-seat stadium and athletic complex during a public ceremony at 11 a.m. Friday, January 30.
The $60 million project represents a unique partnership between the Prairie View A&M Foundation, the University and its alumni base to produce a state-of-the-art facility for student-athletes. The complex is slated for completion in time for the 2016 football season.
“This moment signifies the culmination of years of planning to create a facility that is attractive to new recruits, provides our student-athletes with cutting-edge performance facilities and gives Panther fans an unparalleled sporting event experience.” said Ashley Robinson, athletic director.
About the Stadium and Athletic Complex
The complex will feature a 15,000-seat stadium, which has the capability of expansion to 30,000-seats.
In terms of functional space, the planned stadium amenities include:
- West side (home) grandstand capacity of 9,000 and east side grandstand capacity of 6,000
- Artificial turf playing surface
- Press level
- Covered concourse including concessions and merchandising space
- Premium seating and luxury seats
The Athletic Field House, immediately adjacent to the stadium, will house a strength and conditioning area, sports medicine suite, team meeting rooms, academic support space and locker rooms.
