PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (March 31, 2025) – “We are creating a space that is more than just brick and mortar; we are creating a symbol of our unwavering commitment to nurturing and supporting every student who walks through our doors.” In her first groundbreaking ceremony as Prairie View A&M University’s ninth president, Dr. Tomikia P. LeGrande is excited about the brighter future ahead with the University’s new Teaching & Academic Student Support Services Building.
This dynamic space is designed to be more than a building. It will serve as a central hub for academic resources, mentorship, and student well-being—reinforcing the PVAMU’s mission to empower scholars and elevate their educational journey. A groundbreaking ceremony for the building was held on March 28.
“This building will change the narrative. It places academic and career support at the center of student life, ensuring that every Panther—whether a first-year student or a graduating senior—has access to the tools they need to succeed,” said Jasmine Jeffries, senior communications major and 2024-2025 Student Government Association president.
The program featured incoming Texas A&M University System Chancellor Glenn Hegar, along with outgoing Chancellor John Sharp.
“Prairie View A&M University has the most beautiful campus in The Texas A&M University System, and as I ride off into the sunset, this place is the one I’m most proud of,” said Chancellor Sharp, who is retiring this summer after 14 years.
