Over the weekend, fifty-five students proudly walked the stage to receive their diplomas from The College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources (CAFNR) at Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU).
Before the commencement ceremony, the CAFNR hosted a Spring Graduation reception on May 9, 2024, to honor and celebrate the remarkable achievements of the graduating Class of 2024. Organized by Jaklyn Sanders, Ph.D., assistant professor and student club advisor, and TeneInger Abrom-Johnson, instructor and advisor, the event brought together family, friends, faculty, and staff to commemorate the students’ significant milestone.
The reception commenced with warm welcome remarks from Sanders and Abrom-Johnson, setting a positive tone for the event. Kwaku Addo, Ph.D., associate dean of CAFNR, and Gerard D’Souza, Ph.D., dean of CAFNR, also took the stage to share insightful college updates and encourage the graduates.
Following the administrative updates, each student introduced themselves and shared their post-college plans. It was inspiring to hear about the diverse paths that the students are embarking on, including opportunities to work with prestigious companies like the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), H-E-B, and Gordon Food Service, pursuing further education in graduate or veterinary school, and exploring international study and work opportunities in locations such as Ghana and the Galapagos Islands.
Notably, the Class of 2024 is the first cohort to navigate their college experience during the global pandemic. Their resilience and determination in overcoming challenges serve as a testament to their strength and adaptability. Congratulations to the Class of 2024 on their well-deserved accomplishments, and best wishes for their future endeavors.
