Prairie View A&M University now offers guaranteed tuition & fee plans to all students enrolled. All students are assigned a cohort group according to the term they are admitted. New graduate and doctoral students will be allowed to select a 4-year guaranteed tuition & fee rate. A full-time graduate student is defined as one who is registered for nine (9) semester hours during a fall or spring semester or six (6) hours in a summer semester.
PVAMU Graduate Student Funding
There are multiple methods by which graduate and professional students can fund their graduate degree at Prairie View A&M University. Funding is available in the form of loans, scholarships, and assistantships.
The PV Opportunity Graduate Student Scholarship – PVAMU provides financial support for new and currently enrolled students pursuing doctoral degrees. Several scholarships are available to students who are enrolled in the Fall, Spring, and Summer sessions. Scholarships are based on merit and financial need.
PVAMU Doctoral Tuition & Fee Waiver Program – The PVAMU Doctoral Tuition and Fee Waiver Program cover tuition and fees for full-time enrolled students pursuing doctoral degrees. New and continuing students must complete the application form and submit all required documents to the Office of Graduate Studies.
- Graduate Assistantships – Graduate Teaching and Non-Teaching Assistantships are managed by the schools and colleges. These appointments are available for full-time, currently enrolled graduate students.
- Panther Employee Scholarship Exemption Program – The purpose of the Panther Employee Scholarship/Exemption Program is to provide financial support to faculty, staff, spouses or dependents of eligible employees who wish to obtain a degree or certification from Prairie View A&M University.
- PVAMU Financial Aid – The return on investment from a college education cannot be beaten, however increasing costs associated with higher education requires a major commitment from students and their families. The Office for Financial Aid and Scholarships works to ensure that students are able to achieve their educational goals by offering a wide range of resources and information.
PVAMU Doctoral Scholarship – The PVAMU Doctoral Tuition and Fee Scholarship Program covers tuition and fees for full-time students pursuing doctoral degrees. Both new and continuing students must complete this application form and submit all required documents through their respective departments for processing. Doctoral students who have previously received the scholarship are required to maintain satisfactory academic progress. The scholarship applies only to credits that count toward the degree. Additionally, eligibility for the scholarship includes holding an assistantship.

You may also review all scholarships awarded through the OSFS webpage. The OSFS webpage gives dates and instructions on accessing the application during the application period. Although individual scholarship details are visible year-round, it is vital that students are aware of the dates the applications open and close. We anticipate the dates for 2021-2022 to open mid-November and closing early March. The webpage will be updated in October with the 2021-2022 dates.

- Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) – The National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students who are pursuing full-time research – based master’s and doctoral degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) or in STEM education. The deadline is October 19th through October 22nd, depending on concentration.
- Counseling Degree Scholarship – The “Counseling Degree Scholarship” is currently open for U.S citizenship as verified by a passport, birth certificate, or other approved methods and undergraduate or graduate students enrolled at an accredited higher learning institution. Application Deadline is April 15th and November 15th. The total award amount is a $2,000 scholarship award.
