The Prairie View A&M Police Department will be hosting a Basic S.W.A.T. Operator’s course from Monday, June 12th, 2023 through Friday, June 16, 2023.

Basic Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) training provide new SWAT officers the opportunity to learn basic tactical operations theory and develop a level of proficiency in common SWAT operations. The course provides participants with a solid understanding of basic SWAT concepts and operations. This course meets Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) requirements Basic SWAT Course #3301.

This class is only being offered to Prairie View A&M University Police Department Officers at this time.

Special Instructions:

Attendees must provide their PID # to receive TCOLE credit for this course.  To promote a professional environment, UPD Training Division requires proper business casual attire. T-shirts, shorts, capri pants, and flip-flops are prohibited. Please see classroom rules for more details. Classroom Rules And Regulations

Participants will receive 60 TCOLE hours for taking this course.

Dress Code

Weather will be unpredictable and you should plan accordingly, normal course attire will be

BDU’S, Boots, and a solid Black or Dark Navy blue T-Shirt or Polo, long sleeve, or short (s) for all activities. Several pairs will be required as there may not be sufficient time for laundry the night before for those worn during training that day. This course is conducted rain or shine, snow, sleet, or hail, be prepared. I also recommend sunscreen and insect repellent, as we will be outside training at times.

 (Hydration, Clothing, Weather)

Bring additional water and snacks (canteens, Gatorade, sports drinks and power food, protein bars, etc.) food to keep the energy and strength levels up during the long training days.

Swat Equipment List

**Mandatory**

 Black or Dark Navy Blue pants and shirt.
* No offensive writing on any clothing, solid colors are best*
Duty Weapon Duty belt,
Bulletproof vest, Heavy Vest, Boots (Only) 

Highly recommended equipment list.
The preferred look is black clothing and black boots.

  • Appropriate Long Sleeve or Short sleeve Shirt (T-Shirt or Polo) & Matching Pants preferably BDU pants.
  • 5 to 6 changes of clothes.   
  • Gloves
  • Hat, Booney Hat if you have one. Not mandatory but it would be a good idea to wear a hat for comfort.
  • Hand-Held Flashlight 
  • Handcuff with Keys
  • Bug Repellent 
  • Sun Screen
  • Hydration System 
  • Gatorade, Water, or your favorite drink to keep you hydrated.
  • Snacks, Food,
